RenewCMS is in active development. Releases are currently beta: features may be incomplete and can change. Evaluate it for your needs and back up your data before upgrading.

One executable.

Go API and embedded Vue workspace. No Go or Node.js installation needed to run a release.

SQLite by default.

A local file to get started. PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB when you prefer an external database.

Local or in a bucket.

Keep images on disk or connect S3-compatible storage. The same public image URLs work with either.

Choose your starting point.

You will need a machine or server, an SMTP account and a public URL. For production, add a domain and HTTPS.

A few settings. Then your space.

  1. Set PUBLIC_URL and a strong JWT_SECRET.
  2. Add your SMTP settings for account emails.
  3. Use HTTPS for production. For a local HTTP trial, set ENVIRONMENT=development.
  4. Start RenewCMS, create the first account and verify your email. That account becomes the owner.

Your deployment basics.

Put HTTPS in front with a reverse proxy, configure trusted proxies and keep credentials in your environment. The deployment guide includes Caddy and nginx examples.

Back up both halves.

Protect your database and your uploaded images. With S3 storage, back up the bucket separately. Database backups alone do not include your media.

Update your way.

Pull a new Docker image or replace the binary. Optional browser updates on Linux with systemd need a one-time helper setup. Containers update through their image.
